Career, Scope and Growth in Textile Engineering in India

Textile engineering means clothing people in a way that they get good jobs. It is in fact a science of appearance which greatly improves the personality of people. It is a fashion language with designed clothes as the word goes. And the clothes are never cheap. You may call them economical or more modern word is ‘chic’. The point to impress upon here is that textile is a very integral part of man since ages but surprisingly textile engineering is not very common among engineering institutes. A sudden spurt in this field of engineering has taken the country by surprise.

It is worth mentioning here that Indian Textile Industry plays a very vital role in the economic growth of the nation and we are the emerging leaders in this field. It accounts for a glaring 6% share in GDP and also keeps India at the second position after China worldwide. It also contributes 17% in Forex earnings and interestingly textile forms 14% of the total industrial outputs in India.

Going by the above facts, it is certainly the second largest employer as well and already has about 110 million people working in this trade. The recent 2018-19 Union Budget has given clear indications by allocating Rs. 7000/- crores that Textile sector still has major untapped potential which indicates at still greater opportunities for textile engineers.

For the students of Haryana, Delhi NCR and North India an opportunity exists to pursue textile engineering at Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET), the top Textile Engineering Colleges in India. This institute is approved by AICTE for its qualitative education standards. The same is affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, awarded with A+ rating by NAC and an autonomous university declared by UGC.

The vision of the PIET management for choosing a location on Delhi-Panipat Road, 50 minutes travel from Delhi border and 20 minutes to Panipat is commendable. The location is ideal because Panipat is the textile hub of Haryana, a city abound in yarn and fabric manufacturing with a +3000 crore of annual export business. The campus is vast covering 19 acres and takes in its fold Haryana and Delhi NCR all round including villages, towns and cities. They are on way to be a global campus and have already started with neighboring countries of India and response is over whelming. Very recently they have signed am MoU with Chungbuk National University, South Korea to promote research and student exchange programmes.

Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology is the top Textile Engineering Colleges in India which adds innovative and vibrant young leaders and entrepreneurs to the realm of the country who are capable of contributing to all dimensions of Technical Textiles for development and productivity, which have been developed and trained to meet challenges and build upon opportunities as, when and where they arise. As the target is global, so are the building designs and infrastructure and every aspect is well planned and world beating. The class rooms are beautifully designed and furnished for sitting comfort for day long study hours.

TOP TEXTILE COLLEGES OF HARYANA

I would like to share with you that in the last week of April Mr. Ranjit Bhatia, Rotarian PDG, an exporter and a social worker along with Prof. Jiri Militky and Prof. Dana Kremenokova from the Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic along with Dr. Rajesh Mishra and Prof. B. K. Behara conducted an INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON TECHNICAL TEXTILE at the premises of Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) situated at Samalkha (70 mile stone) on NH1, affiliated to Kurukshetra University and approved by AICTE, Govt. of India. They chose this college because it is named as the Top Textile Engineering Colleges of Haryana, Top Institutes in Haryana, which provides a Textile Engineering Degree which is comprised of textile harvesting, textile processing using scientific and engineering principles and theories, machinery used, energy conservation, waste and pollution control etc. This course offers an interesting scientific career to work with fibers and a few other textile materials and account for improving the current textile products as well as create new innovative ones.

The point here worth mentioning is that in a country of such diverse cultures and traditions, religions and sects where people have different clothing and different ways of living.  Dresses vary with cultures and seasons, festivals and social and family functions, there are less than 100 institutions wide spread across the country which provide courses in Textile Engineering. If I talk about North India, the Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) is one such college which has this facility for the students who would have ever wanted to join textile engineering as a profession in view of the large scope in the growing market world vide. That is the story behind establishment of this college just 20km ahead of Panipat, which is the textile hub of Haryana, India and the world. It is actually a big step for the PIET management to fulfill the needs of students within the region who don’t have means and ways to travel far off.

The fact remains unchanged that Textile industry is one of India’s fastest growing industries and the companies are catering to international and domestic markets. Keeping these facts into consideration, Textile Engineering can be categorized as a good course for students who aspire to make their mark in the field of fashion. This particular branch of Engineering is pursued by many people all over the nation, who are aspiring for a bright career.

The Panipat Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Top Colleges of Haryana and Delhi NCR is known for the infrastructure campus culture and repute as award winners. The visiting professors from the Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic have announced that four students from this college would be invited to their university as a gesture of appreciation the way education is being imparted here. Prof. Jiri Militky compared this institute to a grafted tree producing different fruits on different branches with a common root.

Even the state governor said that it is one the unique colleges of its kind in this region, which has rightly been adjudged as number two in Haryana carrying four and a half star rating.

Scope & Importance of Textile Engineering in India

India is the only country in the World with such diverse cultures and traditions, religions and sects. So the people have different clothing and different ways of living which is a unique quality of our country. Clothes worn by people in India not only vary with the cultures and seasons but also with festivals and social and family functions. It is this varied style of dressing by Indians, which improves the scope of textile engineering in India.

However it is a paradox that despite what has been said above, there are less than 100 institutions wide spread across the country which provide courses in Textile Engineering. If we talk about North India, the Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology (PIET) is one such college which has this facility for the desirous lot.   PIET is situated at NH1 just 20km ahead of Panipat, the textile hub of Haryana, India and the world and a travel of 50 minutes from Delhi Border. It is actually a big step for the PIET management to fulfill the needs of students within the region who don’t have means and ways to travel far off. This renowned institution is affiliated to one of the elite universities viz. Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and approved by AICTE, Govt. of India. It is named as the Top Textile Engineering Colleges of Haryana, Top Institutes in Haryana, which provide a Textile Engineering Degree which is comprised of textile harvesting, textile processing using scientific and engineering principles and theories, machinery used, energy conservation, waste and pollution control etc. This course offers an interesting scientific career to work with fibers, fabrics and a few other textile materials and account for improving the current textile products as well as create new innovative ones.

The Panipat Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Top Colleges of Haryana and Delhi NCR is known for the infrastructure which is spread over 16 acres, a beautiful and lush green campus, which every student yearns for. It also caters to the needs of rural area students. It is a place where abundant computer labs. And a book rich library, net-café and WI-FI are also accentuated with ATM, cafeterias, stationery shop and what not. We can also name it a self sufficient campus. Hostels for boys and girls as well as residents for faculties make it a unique institute where students from far off North East States, J&K and neighboring countries like Nepal and Bhutan also come to study.

The students here are helped to remove the gaps due to different backgrounds they come from. This is a step towards an overall development and exposure.  A strong management base is able to provide quality academics, thanks to faculties, facilities, funding, student satisfaction, methodology and technology to match the demand supply curve and uplift the competitive level of technocrats and professionals. All these together make the Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology an outstanding name.

All this has helped PIET to earn four prestigious awards in two consecutive years, the latest of which are:

·         Best Engineering College in North India
      Best Placement in North India

Awarded by Hon’ble Minister of State, Prof. (Dr.) R.S. Katheria in January 2015
