Top Textile Engineering Colleges in India

Until the dawn of 14th century no one ever would have thought of the word ‘Textile Engineering’, which today is one of the most desirous streams of engineering by the current era youth. Despite the same there are not many engineering colleges in India offering this discipline for the reasons of affordability. In North India Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology (PIET) which is affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and also approved by AICTE, the Govt. of India, is among the Top Textile Colleges of India, which has made its name by providing wings to the dreams of those who wanted to establish themselves in this traditional art of of garments which was a part of Indian culture as back as Indus Valley civilisation some 5000 years BC, Muslin cloth being the specialty of cotton fabrics, which business was spread up to Mediterranean countries around the first century and the British traders were also lured by its sophistication and subsequently this ’Art of hand woven fabrics’ assumed a commercial status with the advent of mechanisation process around 14th century.

Textile Engineering and Fashion Industry and Automobile Industry are set go hand in hand and only in an upward direction. Accordingly the aspirants for this course are on the rise constantly. Since PIET is located at a very ideal location on the road leading from Delhi to Ambala, it is playing a pivotal role in joining villages and cities, states and countries, and above all diverse cultures under one roof, the roof of a world class infrastructure comprised of air-conditioned class rooms, well equipped practical science labs with latest methodology handled by a competent faculty team many of whom have been exposed to international seminars to provide the best to their students, thanks to the strong global tie-ups of this institute.

The 16 acre area of the campus is laden with thick tree groves and land areas with carpets of grass. Since the students come from far off states like Northeast, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, JOKE etc. and countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh etc., the boys and girls hostels (3 in number) are furnished to provide home comfort to young minds. To enrich students’ knowledge a 50000 stock book library is complemented by a digital library and a round the clock internet and Wi-Fi facility, as many as 20 computer labs to seat 1200 at a time. A 3000+ capacitated amphitheater provides a platform to students for exhibiting their extra curricular skills acquired at college transforming them to be a balanced personality with the help of customized students development programs to enable them not only acquiring a degree, but also developing their soft skills, which is the main criteria of placement eligibility, by exposing them to a much wider world of learning by way of guest lectures and industrial visits. Although we are the best as a country in cotton fabric technology, PIET still have developed strong tie-ups with universities of some European countries and USA so that an updated knowledge of technical developments is shared with the young technocrats to make them acceptable any where in the world. We had the opportunity to welcome delegates from various fields of industries and Universities of countries like Iran, Japan, USA and many others. The visit of Mr. Yong K. Kim, PhD.,C text/FTI from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth I.T., USA was a great learning session for the students of Textile Engineers about its future and latest developments in the field.

Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology (PIET) is among the top textile colleges of India, which also best in placements which is the final motive of any engineering student. This institute is known as placement hub invaded by big players like Arvind Ltd., Vardhman, Trident and Nahar to name a few. That is the reason PIET has been awarded for Bet Placement In North India.
